The Song That Defined My Youth (Apparently)
I read somewhere that “the song that best defines your youth” is whatever song was #1 on your 16th birthday.
So I looked it up. And the song that topped the Canadian charts on my 16th birthday?
“The Friends of Mr. Cairo” by Jon & Vangelis.
On one hand, it’s weird that the alleged official soundtrack to my youth is a novelty track by a one-hit wonder. On the other hand… given how things have gone so far?
